Letybo Price and Cost Per Unit: The Vial Rule That Sets What You Pay

Part of Botox vs Other Brands
Letybo is usually presented as the cheaper option, and there is a real reason behind that which has nothing to do with promotions. It is written into the label, and almost nobody explains it.
What we will not do is quote you a price. Hugel publishes no patient price, clinic rates vary by city and by injector, and a number invented for a page is worse than no number.
The rule that sets the economics. A Letybo vial is single-dose: after mixing it may be used for one injection session and one patient, and whatever is left is discarded. A frown-line treatment is 20 Units. So from a 100 Unit vial a clinic throws away 80 Units. Letybo also comes in a 50 Unit vial, where it throws away 30. Jeuveau has no 50 Unit vial.
The vial rule that drives the price
Letybo is supplied as a freeze-dried powder in two sizes: a 50 Unit vial and a 100 Unit vial. Both are single-dose. The label is explicit about what that means in practice:
"After reconstitution, only use each LETYBO vial for one injection session and for only one patient. Discard any remaining solution in vial immediately after administration."
So a vial is not a shared supply that a clinic works through over a week. It is opened for you, and what you do not use is destroyed. Run the arithmetic against the labelled glabellar dose of 20 Units:
| Vial opened | Used on you | Discarded | Available for Letybo | Available for Jeuveau |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 100 Units | 20 | 80 | Yes | Yes |
| 50 Units | 20 | 30 | Yes | No such vial |
That is the structural reason a Letybo price can sit genuinely below a competitor's rather than as a loss-leading offer. A clinic treating one glabella from a 50 Unit vial has destroyed 30 units of product; the same treatment from a 100 Unit vial destroys 80. The waste is built into the cost of your appointment either way.
It also explains a practice you may encounter: clinics batching several patients into one session. That does not get round the rule, because the rule is one patient per vial regardless. What it does affect is scheduling, and it is why some clinics offer particular brands only on certain days.
One related timing fact from the label: once reconstituted, Letybo must be administered within 24 hours, stored refrigerated at 2 to 8 degrees C in the original carton, and never frozen. Unopened vials keep refrigerated in the same way.
Why "per unit" is the wrong thing to compare
Every clinic quotes neurotoxin per unit, and across brands that number is close to meaningless. The Letybo label states it plainly: potency units are specific to the preparation and assay used, and units of Letybo cannot be compared to nor converted into units of any other botulinum toxin product assessed by a different assay.
Every product in the class carries the same statement about itself. A unit is a measure of that manufacturer's product measured their way. It is not a portable quantity of wrinkle relaxation.
The practical consequence is that a clinic charging less per unit for one brand may be charging you more in total, or less, and the per-unit figure cannot tell you which. The only comparable number is the total price to treat your area with each product's labelled dose. For Letybo and Jeuveau that is 20 Units; for other brands it differs. We put the labelled doses side by side on the unit conversion page.
What actually moves the number you are quoted
From the prices we verify and publish on our city pages, three things move injectable pricing more than the brand on the vial does.
- Who injects. One Denver clinic publishes a 23 per cent premium for the physician over the nurse injector, for the identical product.
- Whether the rate is a first-visit price. In Chicago, the lowest published rate we found rises 44 per cent on the second visit. A quoted headline number is often an introduction.
- Whether a minimum spend applies. A low per-unit rate with a treatment minimum can cost more than a higher rate without one, particularly for a 20 unit glabellar treatment, which is a small purchase.
Because a glabellar treatment is only 20 units, minimums bite harder here than on larger areas. If a clinic has a minimum spend that exceeds 20 units at its own rate, you are paying for units you will not receive. That is worth asking about directly.
Our Botox price guide works through these patterns in detail with the verified figures, and deals and discounts covers how offers are structured and which ones are real.
When a low Letybo price should worry you
Most of the time a lower Letybo price is exactly what it appears to be: a newer brand competing on price, with a smaller vial that wastes less. Occasionally it is not, and there are two things to check.
Over-dilution. The label specifies reconstitution with preservative-free 0.9% sodium chloride and gives dilution instructions specific to the 50 and 100 Unit vials. More diluent than specified spreads the same units through more liquid, which changes how the product diffuses in the tissue. You cannot detect this yourself, which is why the injector's credibility matters more than the price does.
An unapproved product. Genuine US Letybo is NDC 81165-050-01 for the 50 Unit vial and 81165-100-01 for the 100 Unit. Ask to see the carton and vial before it is mixed. Foreign-language packaging with no US NDC is a stop sign, and the FDA has warned publicly about unapproved and counterfeit botulinum toxin being administered outside medical settings. Our page on Korean botulinum toxins covers which products are and are not FDA-approved, which matters here because Letybo's manufacturer, Hugel, is a Korean company whose product is fully FDA-approved. The two things get confused constantly.
And verify the injector, which takes about two minutes in any state. See how to verify an injector's licence.
How to ask for a price you can compare
- "What is the total price to treat my frown lines with Letybo?" Not the per-unit rate. Total, for the area.
- "Is that a first-visit price?" If yes, ask what the return rate is.
- "Is there a minimum spend?" A 20 unit treatment is small enough that minimums often exceed it.
- "Which vial size do you use?" An unusual question that a good clinic will answer happily, and it tells you something about their volume.
- "Can I see the vial and NDC before it is mixed?"
- "Who is injecting, and does the price change by injector?" Frequently it does.
